My name is Sherita Bolden. I'm currently a Sophomore and my major is Mass Communications. I'm am an aspiring actress/ film director. Movies are my passion, I love the feeling that you get when you have just watched a good movie. I feel like movies have the power to inspire you, aware you of issues in the world, encourage you and sometimes just flat out entertain you! I consider myself an artist, and a good artist appreciates all art forms. That is why this poetry class is so important to me! It will give me the opportunity to learn a different art form, and have another way to express myself. I have tried writing poetry in the pass, and to be honest I Haven't really cared to much for my poems. But hopefully this class can unleash some locked away talent, and my poems can actually be good!

  1. I agree with what you said about movies being able to inspire people. I think all forms of art in gerneral can do that. I hope that you're able to write something this semester that you'll like as well. Either way I look forward to reading them!

  2. I love movies as well. I can really sense your love for films in this introduction of yourself. Maybe you could use your love of movies/film making to inspire your poetry.

  4. Hello Sherita,
I think it is great that you are aspiring to be an actress. I always want to act, but I think I am too goofy to perform a serious role. So I look forward to seeing you perform your poetry in class.

  5. As an artist, do you paint or draw or are you purely written word and acting?

  6. I love your passion for movies. I'm not well-versed in "good" movies, I see what looks entertaining, but I've always seen a connection between a good book and a good movie...I guess because if the writer is doing their job, you can watch a book like a movie.

I'm never more inspired than after seeing a really good movie, I guess because of the emotions it brings up. I hope you're able to transfer your love of movies in to poetry you enjoy.
