Hey is this beautiful.... because its a creation of God's! When I see a white puffy cloud against a clear blue sky it represents the true of beauty and peace.Just looking at the clouds can take your mind off of everyday life. Though there is a scientific reason for everything, somethings are place here for us to simply enjoy. We should take the time to sit and watch the sky. Clouds have so many unique shapes and sizes. I remember when i was a child and would play the guessing game where you would have to guess what shape the cloud was . We would pick out dinosaurs and mountains and cars! the beauty of clouds can bring inspiration, especialllly for our poems . My challenge for you guys is to sit under the clouds one day and write!

In The Depths of Solitude

i exist in the depths of solitude
pondering my true goal
trying 2 find peace of mind
and still preserve my soul
constantly yearning 2 be accepted
and from all receive respect
never comprising but sometimes risky
and that is my only regret

a young heart with an old soul
how can there be peace
how can i be in the depths of solitude
when there r 2 inside of me
this duo within me causes
the perfect oppurtunity
2 learn and live twice as fast
as those who accept simplicity

Written by Tupac Shakur (1971-1996)

This poem is one of my many favorites. For me it explains how I feel sometimes, trying find that balance with in yourself. "A young heart with and old soul." I love that part. I feel as if i have an old soul. I think different than my peers. I am a lot wiser, but yet I still have the desires and needs as a person my age. Also this speaks to me because of the industry I want to go into! "Hollywood" can cause you to lose who you are. I feel that Tupac was trying to tell us how how he constantly has to sit down and think by himself to place his life back in order. Being in the depths of solitude if is being alone allowing yourself to let go of all the material things and really understanding what your purpose is. Tupac talks about how he wants to be accepted and receive respect, but he doesn't compromise himself in order to be famous. I love the Language used. This poem has taught me that you can use elaborate language but not make it so complicating and confusing. This poem has also taught me that when i write my poems I shoud place my self in "the depths of Solitude" and pondering what I my heart really wants to say.

My name is Sherita Bolden. I'm currently a Sophomore and my major is Mass Communications. I'm am an aspiring actress/ film director. Movies are my passion, I love the feeling that you get when you have just watched a good movie. I feel like movies have the power to inspire you, aware you of issues in the world, encourage you and sometimes just flat out entertain you! I consider myself an artist, and a good artist appreciates all art forms. That is why this poetry class is so important to me! It will give me the opportunity to learn a different art form, and have another way to express myself. I have tried writing poetry in the pass, and to be honest I Haven't really cared to much for my poems. But hopefully this class can unleash some locked away talent, and my poems can actually be good!
